Course Description. The course "Theory and Practice of Educational Technology in Nigeria" explores the intersection of educational theory with practical applications of technology within the Nigerian context. This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how educational technology is conceptualized, implemented, and adapted in Nigerian educational settings.
Throughout the lessons, students will engage in a variety of activities designed to promote understanding and application of the subject matter in teaching and learning. These activities may include:
- Reading and Analysis: Students will read scholarly articles, case studies, and relevant literature to gain insights into the theoretical foundations of educational technology and its relevance in the Nigerian context. They will analyze these texts' key concepts, theories, and frameworks.
- Discussion and Reflection: Students will participate in group discussions, either in-person or online, to share their perspectives, insights, and experiences related to the use of educational technology in Nigeria. They will reflect on the challenges, opportunities, and implications of integrating technology into educational practices.
- Hands-on Activities: Students will engage in hands-on activities to explore and experiment with educational technology tools, platforms, and resources relevant to the Nigerian context. They may design instructional materials, develop digital learning resources, or create multimedia presentations to demonstrate their understanding.
- Collaborative Projects: Students will collaborate in groups to design and develop innovative educational technology solutions addressing specific challenges or needs in Nigerian education. They will apply their educational theory and technology knowledge to propose practical solutions that align with local contexts and priorities.

Pre-requisite Skills:
To successfully engage with the learning contents, collaborate with others and attain the goals of this course, students should have basic digital literacy skills, access to technology and the internet, strong reading, and research skills to engage with relevant literature, and a collaborative learning mindset to participate in group activities. These prerequisites ensure that students can effectively navigate the blended learning environment and actively contribute to discussions and activities related to the course.
